Facebook / Twitter previews are not working

Hello again,

I'm having problems with sharing our website on social media (facebook and twitter).

After sharing the website link (using the seo/share settings in the homepage) I get the following results:
Facebook: it appears the website link / description and an "old" image that we added some time ago instead of the new one.
Twitter: nothing appears.

I already cleared the cache and tested in different browsers, but the same issue happens.
Then I used the https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/ and I get the following warning:

"The 'fb:app_id' property should be explicitly provided, Specify the app ID so that stories shared to Facebook will be properly attributed to the app. Alternatively, app_id can be set in url when open the share dialog."

How to fix this?

Hey Leandro!

Sorry to hear of the issue.

Hmm, yes this issue usually has to do with some sort of image caching issue on the backend of either Wordpress or your hosting panel, or perhaps in Yoast itself (Semplice just uses the Yoast plugin functionality to set the share images).

I would check to ensure you are using correct image dimensions and a jpg image format (dimensions are listed on the Share tab of each page or project in Semplice). Lastly, try setting the share image in the Pages are of Wordpress instead of the Sharing page in Semplice, as an alternative method. There’s a Yoast section at the bottom of the Wordpress page editor where you can set share images.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, both images have the correct dimensions and format.
We also tried to add the facebook image on Yoast section (at the bottom of the Wordpress page), but unfortunately without success.
