Problem with duplicate Section IDs

Jordi Dec 13, 2018 01:00PM CET

I have been having problems adding blocks to my projects, either the provided ones or custom-made ones.

All blocks of the same type that I add to my project seem to share the same ID attribute in the section tag. This of course messes up the editor, because it becomes utterly confused which section I'm selecting. I've been observing this behaviour in Chrome, but it also is happening in Safari. It also cropped up just recently; I didn't have any problems earlier. It seems something is going wrong with the generating of IDs for the sections. Strangely enough, when I have the developer console of my browser open when I'm editing in Semplice, everything seems to work perfectly fine. All sections get their own unique ID attribute.

Any clue what is going wrong here? Much appreciated!

Hey Jordi!

Very strange, I’ve never heard of this issue before. Happy to look into this though. I’d like to ask a few questions and things to check for though, to help me better understand the situation:

1. Do you have Single App mode enabled in Semplice > Settings?

2. Do you have any third-party plugins running? I would try temporarily disabling them all.

3. Ensure you have no browser plugins like a pop-up blocker or something similar.

Try checking those and let me know what you find!

Hi Jon!

Thanks for answering, but the problem has been resolved. It turns out my webhost silently rolled out some new caching features on their servers, which didn't seem to play nice with the generating of ID's for some reason. I asked them to turn it off and now everything is working fine like before.

Thanks!
Jordi

Hey Jordi!

Thats fantastic to hear things are sorted out. Yes, sometimes your hosting provider can set caching to speed up your site load times but it can cause weird issues like this in some cases, since your browser can’t load the latest changes.

Have a great one!
Jon
