Add a button to the navigation

Flore Pillet May 10, 2017 11:22AM CEST

Hello everybody,

I wonder if it's possible to add a button to the navigation ?

I want to add a button "Say hello!" to my navigation. But I don't know how it's possible.

Somebody can help me ?

Hi Flore,

There isn’t a way to add a button to the menu. You can add a custom menu item (Appearance > Menu) and then we could use some CSS to style it like a button, if that would work for you.

I tried to add a contact button to my menu as well using an older thread and it redirects to gmail but doesn't populate an email. Is there any way to have a contact that redirects and opens up an addressed email?

Hi Alex,

What link did you use? It should populate the email address.

Hi there, Mara!

You can do this by going to Customize > Navigation (assuming you’re on Semplice 4), and then in the edit mode of the navbar item you want to be styled differently you can assign it a classname. For example, you could assign it “cta-button”. Then, in the global CSS editor you could use a custom CSS code like this:

.cta-button {
color: #000 !important;
background-color: yellow !important;

.cta-button:hover {
color: #000 !important;
background-color: #FFF !important;

Unfortunately, I can’t assist further in providing CSS support but I hope this at least helps give you a starting point to work with.

Happy building!

Hi Jonathan
It works, thank you!! :)

But before that
Appearance > Customize > Menus

On top next to "Menus" there's a settings icon, that opens "advanced menu properties"
There you can select "CSS Classes" properties to show, I originally didn't had that selected and all i could see was: "URL" and "Navigation Label" :/

Thank you

Hey there, Mara!

Glad to hear.

Yes, I think that’s the way you would have to do it in Semplice 3. I assumed you were on Semplice 4. :)

Have a great day, and thanks for the additional info!
