Start at content feature

Jesse Steinfort May 10, 2017 01:53AM CEST

Hello,

I'm not sure if I've done something wrong, but I can't seem to get the start at content feature to work.

When I click through my cover slider home page it just defaults to the top of the page as normal.

Any thoughts?

thanks,
Jesse

Hi Jesse,

Are you using any custom CSS or JavaScript on your site?

Do you have any Wordpress plugins?

Best,
Amanda

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for the reply.

No custom JS and no plugins that make any difference (I've turned them all off with no effect).

Some custom CSS but removing that for testing has no effect either.

Hi Jesse,

Could you share your Wordpress login with me so I can try to troubleshoot why it’s not working.

You can email help@semplicelabs.com and please include a link to this thread.

Thanks,
Amanda

Hey Giovanni!

Nice hearing from you. Have you ensured you are on the latest version of your Semplice theme? You can check under Appearance > Themes in the Wordpress admin menu.

Best,
Jonathan

Hey,

My problem was resolved by clearing out my .htaccess file. I had a lot of legacy rules written in there which were causing conflicts.

Jesse,

Glad you got things sorted out, and good thinking on checking the .htaccess file as I would not have thought that would have been the cause! so weird.

Let us know if we can assist with anything else!

Hi,
I am sorry for posting here but I couldn't find a way to start a new post.
Where I can find start at content option?
I found some posts where it says that it can be set up under Semplice → Advanced Styling → Misc
I cannot find this section or is it in wordpress directly?
In general, what I would like to do, is to set up cover slider to start at second or third slide. When someone opens the cover slider, it goes directly to the specific slide (not to the top). I hope that I could set up such configuration under above mentioned options.
Best regards,
Jacek

Hey Jacek!

When referring to ‘Start on Top’, this is referring to the way that the content displays first with the navigation overlaid on top, as opposed to the navigation behind page content.

Sadly, there’s not a way with the CoverSlider to have it start on a particular slider and by default it will always start with the first slide.

Best,
Jon

Dear Jon,

sorry for bothering you.

I have a last questions. Is there any chance to create a navigation bar on the top based on the slides in the slide cover? I don't want to have a link to the pages because the slide bar will disappear. I was thinking if I could add specific slide as the custom link in the menu bar. I read the instruction posted some time ago about creating the navigation bar for one page website. (to add paragraphs with the hidden text and later assigning section to the navigation bar). Is there any similar way to do this with the cover slide?

P.S.

This is why I was asking about assigning specific slide as the main one. This way I could create the navigation bar using cover slides and the users will not be confused.

for example, I was wondering if I could somehow view the page source of the website and look for some link that I could use to create a custom link in the menu bar.

Best,

Jacek

Hey Jacek!

Of course! Happy to help :)

Sadly, there’s not a way to link to specific slider with the CoverSlider due to the way these are setup. Additionally, Cover Slides don’t generate an ID tag which is necessary for linking to certain sections or areas on a page.

I’m sorry!
Jon
